This page contains a list of possible solutions to the more frequent e-mail related errors experienced by non-AT&T customers attempting to send e-mail to AT&T Internet customers. Click on the error message for additional information.

Server Unavailable/ Storage Service Unavailable/ Message Store Server Unavailable/ Message Store Unavailable

net 001: You are not able to send email to.
net 002: This e-mail was undeliverable due to the following reason.
net 003: The recipient has one or more forwarding addresses which are invalid.
net 004: The recipient(s) account is temporarily over quota.
net 005: The e-mail message uses 8-bit or binary encoding and the destination mail system does not support this encoding.
net 006: Your e-mail message is larger than the destination mail system is able to accept.
net 007: Your current IP address is not allowed to relay to DOMAIN.
net 008: The IP you are sending from does not have a valid revers DNS entry.
net 009: Invalid recipient.






Error: Server Unavailable/ Storage Service Unavailable/ Message Store Server Unavailable/ Message Store Unavailable


Notification: net 001: You are not allowed to send e-mail to ADDRESS.

If you are not a AT&T Customer, your e-mail may have been blocked because of an abuse situation.






Notification: net 002: This e-mail message was undeliverable due to the following reason:

This error message indicates a failed e-mail delivery.







Error: net 003: The recipient has one or more forwarding addresses which are invalid.

This error message indicates that the recipient of the e-mail has incorrectly set up a forwarding address. To resolve this issue do the following:


Contact the recipient by alternate means to ask them if the forwarding address(s) has been set up incorrectly. Ask the recipient to check their forwarding e-mail address(s) and fix any errors.






Error: net 004: The recipient(s) account is temporarily over quota.

This error message indicates the recipient mailbox is full.

Contact the recipient by alternate means to inform them that their mailbox is full. Ask the recipient to delete old e-mails to allow space for new e-mails to be received.






Error: net 005: The e-mail message uses 8-bit or binary encoding and the destination mail system does not support this encoding.

This error message indicates that you are attempting to use a client encoding that is not compatible with the destination system. Change your client encoding from 8-bit or “as-is” to “MIME” or “quoted-printable”.






Error: net 006: Your e-mail message is larger than the destination mail system is able to accept.

This error message indicates the size of your e-mail message is too large to be received by the destination mail system.

Try to make your e-mail message smaller by splitting the message into several smaller e-mail messages and deliver them separately. Send fewer or compressed attachments.

Error: net 007: Your current IP address is not allowed to relay to DOMAIN.

This error message indicates that you are probably not connecting through AT&T Internet Service. Please connect using AT&T Internet Service and try to send your e-mail message again.






Error: net 008: The IP you are sending from does not have a valid reverse DNS entry.

This error indicates that your IP does not have a valid reverse DNS entry. Please contact your ISP's IP administrator to have a reverse DNS entry added to your IP address.






Error: net 009: Invalid recipient.

This error indicates that you are trying to send the message to an invalid e-mail address.
